Te Karaka Station & Lodge case study

Recommended by a colleague who got a design done by Jo. Her comments were Jo is reasonably priced, very good communicator and offers flexible services and packages.

Jo is fluent in the commercial space and understands the consent requirements and compliances with local councils. Because she already had a system in place it saved us as clients to navigate the council requirements again. She also is very budget savvy, very conscious about finding middle ground between our brief and budget constraints, try to deliver the best design within the allowance of the resources. Lastly her project management skills are outstanding, very solution oriented, always contacts us with the issues she encountered and some potential solutions that she had discussed with other stakeholders/contractors.

The communication flow was consistent, well documented and efficient. You can see that she came to the meetings very well prepared and she executed the points after the meeting. As the client we didn’t have to chase up with her, she would always communicate in a reasonably timely manner, and gave us notice when things were delayed.

Yes, Jo communicated very openly about her workload and other family obligations from the initial stage, there was no surprise about how long things might take and any delays or issues were communicated in a timely fashion. When the project progressed and inevitably impacted the budget, Jo was able to come up with suggestions to stay within the budget without compromising too much of the overall delivery of the plan.

It was very well executed; Jo handled the research of suppliers and project managed the installation with different contractors seamlessly. All the contractors also found her very easy to work with.
